Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years working as a field operations technician or control room operator in an oil and gas-producing field location.
Skills (Added advantage)
• Ability to read and interpret process engineering flow schemes (PEFS) and process drawings.
• Basic understanding of Distributed control systems. Preferably Yokogawa DCS
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
• Problem-solving and good analytical skills.
• Self-motivated and performs under minimal supervision
• Demonstration of full knowledge of wellhead systems & integrity management (installation, completion and testing of various components and seals)
• Experience in actuator valves and ESD systems operation.
• Experience in oil wellhead operations and troubleshooting skills.
• A good understanding of the working principles of field instrumentation and process automation systems.
Soft Skills
• Ability to understand and perform production operations (volume, pressure, flow) calculation.
• Ability to understand units of various variables i.e., pressure, volume, flow rate etc.
• Onsite Hazard identification and Risk assessment capability.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Ability to use Frontline maintenance to detect equipment and resolve same before failure.
• Problem-solving and good analytical skills.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Field Operator support will be responsible for the following:
• Apply the emergency response procedure where and when necessary.
• Report and close out UA/UC
• Serves as PTW signatory
• Apply the HSSE policy, and legislation applicable to crude oil transfer and export.
• Adhere to plant operational procedures.
• Monitor, control and record production rates and performance.
• Start-up wells and facilities (hot and cold start).
• Perform basic troubleshooting on wells and facilities to ensure stability.
• Perform daily first-line monitoring of process parameters and variables.
• Liaise with maintenance for PM and CM execution as scheduled.
• Gather daily production data, and determine the production performance.
• Participate in the console review meetings, Daily notification and YTT review meeting
• Prepare daily production reports for DPR.
• Execute daily communication and Shift handover.
• Ensure optimized chemical injection rates are followed as advised.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to execute planned activities.
• Prepare the wells and facilities/equipment for (re) commencement of production/processing.
• Perform monthly well tests and sampling of producing wells.
• Perform periodic well integrity assurance tasks and activities.
• Supervise preparation of equipment for maintenance including isolation, draining, steaming,
and other procedures as required.
Work Cycle
• The work location is a land-field based (Soku Gas plant & Flow Station) accessible via Air.
• Work is Port Harcourt and you may be required to attend courses in Shell IA PHC or other PHC locations as advised as well as other official assignments
• The job activity period is daily on a 12-hour (7 am to 7 pm) routine over 21 days.
• There is a standard 3weeks on and 3weeks off schedule.
• The successful candidate will manage their own absences with his/her contractor for suitably qualified covers.
Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need arises
